The story is from The Classic of Mountains and Rivers (《山海经》shan hai jing), a Chinese mater piece in the ancient time. The chief of the Kuafu people wanted to reach for the sun, so he began to chase it and raced with it. Although he did his best in the chase and was close to success, he eventually was too thirsty to carry on and eventually his body became the Mountain Kuafu.

It is a story which reflects ancient Chinese people’s dauntless spirit to conquer nature. This series of books introduces the most well-known Chinese myths that have entertained children in China for generations.
