Why is the character upside down? First, it is definitely not a mistake but to emphasise a deliberate twist of meaning – ‘arriving’. The actual word of “到 (dao) arriving” in Chinese sounds exactly the same as “倒 (dao) being upside down”. So turning the character upside down is to get it arriving! Ok there is no harm to stretch your brain a bit and be an expert of this word play.
