Where else to celebrate

• Follow the CNY parade in and around Chinatown and London’s West End on 25 January. The largest outside Asia, celebrations include colourful parades, performances, displays and foodie treats

• Join the Chinese New Year family festival day at the National Gallery on 26 January, which will be filled with Chinese- themed storytelling and dance; try your hand at making dumplings and paper cut decorations. 11am-4pm, free for families, www.nationalgallery.org.uk

• Head to the Museum of London Docklands on 8 and 9 February for a variety of arts and crafts, calligraphy, Chinese stories
and a ribbon dance. 11am-4.30pm, admission free, www.museumoflondon.org.uk/docklands

• Watch online CNY gala broadcasts. A Guinness World Records holder of the world’s most watched television programme, it typically features music, dance, comedy and drama performances by talents and stars. Look up key word ‘CCTV New Year’s Gala’ (CCTV means China Central Television).
