About the author
Francis Gerard is someone who has always chased dreams. Starting out as a photographer, he soon turned to documentary films and travelled the world, working primarily as an observer of political issues. First in the country he grew up in, South Africa, then from the late 1970s, began a series of documentaries about Russian and US politics. During the 1990s he turned his eye to China, following the final years of British control in Hong Kong and then the country itself in an eight-hour series entitled “The Dragon’s Ascent”.
Over the past ten years Francis has established a museum exhibition company working out of South Africa across Africa.
His recent series of six books of Chinese Folk tales for children was a delightful change of pace. Presently Francis is completing his first novel.
